Immerse yourself in the history and culture of the ancient village of Amalfi and with your licensed English speaking local guide, walk through rural paths exploring the natural reserve of the Ferriere, among the forty-one Italian biogenetic reserves.

• Explore striking waterfalls then continue to the Valle dei Mulini, in the heart of the protected area of the valley is the majestic wall of fossilized moss that flows continuously along its entire surface. Explore the lush vegetation, discovering the nature and history of the ancient Republic of Amalfi, the ruins of the old paper mills where the famous “Carta d’Amalfi” was produced using a medieval system. Among the rare plants, the Woodwardia is a millenary fern discovered in 1710 by the botanist Micheli.
• Before descending to the centre of Amalfi, take a break at a historic and recently refurbished farmhouse where you’ll enjoy a two courses menu that includes: traditional dishes prepared with local ingredients gathered from the farmhouse garden, fresh lemonade made with the famous Amalfi lemons grown in the farm, water from the local Grevone spring.
  At the end of this walk, you might want to visit on your own, Amalfi’s Paper Museum, established in an old paper mill dating back to the 13th century.

Technical details:
The hike starts in Minuta (Scala), or in Pontone, located higher up the valley: from there you’ll walk down to the valley of the mills and then to the center of Amalfi.
• Length: 6 km/3.5 miles • Climb: +70m/250feet • Downhill: – 500m/1600 feet
Part of the hike is exposed, with minimal shade, so it is recommended to use sunscreen and to wear a sunhat.
Make sure to take plenty of water with you.
We highly recommend to use hiking shoes (or at least comfortable closed-toe shoes with rubber grip).
