Our driver will pick you up at your hotel on the Amalfi Coast (select towns). Arrive in Herculaneum and explore one of the best-preserved archaeological site in the world and discover the vineyards of a local Winery located on a gentle slope of Mt Vesuvius.

he city was buried under 16 meters of ash during the eruption of Mount Vesuvius in 79 AD: this thick layer of rubbles and aches has preserved intact the domus homes with the internal architecture and décor, including decorations, jewellery as well as some organic remains like food. This give us the opportunity to have a clear view of the daily lives of the ancient population of Herculaneum.
Our driver will take you then to our selected local winery located on a gentle slope of the Mount Vesuvius to relax and enjoy 4 types of wine all paired with local traditional food in a traditional lunch in the winery that includes 1 antipasti (bruschetta with fresh tomatoes, local salami, organic vegetables, provolone cheese DOP, homemade casatiello), 1 main courses, pasta with fresh tomato sauce, and a homemade dessert. You’ll enjoy the Lacryma Christi, a wine made by native grapes of Caprettone, Falanghina, Piedirosso and Aglianico. Lacryma Christithe literally “tears of Christ”, has been produced since Ancient Roman times and all the vines of the vineyards you’ll visit grow on volcanic soil with distintive properties and taste of the wine.
An extra virgin olive oil tasting and walk through the vineyards is also included.
The winery is located within the Vesuvius National Park: the visit to the vineyards and the terrace where the wine and food tasting take place, offer a stunning view on Sorrento Coast, Capri Island, Pompei and the the Vesuvius itself.
Additional info:
– Herculaneum is vast area and also very exposed, with minimal shade, so it is recommended to use a sunscreen and to wear a hat.
– Make sure to take plenty of water.
– It is appropriate to use closed shoes and not flip flops.
