Starting from the small square in Minuta we will walk along the ruins of the Basilica os Sant'Eustachio, then the small medieval village hamlet of Pontone, the oldest town on the Amalfi Coast. During this first part of the trail you'll be able to enjoy the view of Amalfi from a different point of view and walk through the lemon groves, typical cultivation in these area.
Walking Along the river Canneto, we get right at the center of the valley above Amalfi with its waterfalls and its rare plants. On rainy days it's more likely to to meet the rare “Salamandrina” (Salamandra terdigitata), fascinating endemic amphibian, or maybe some other endemic newts.
From the reserve we walk back downhill heading Amalfi center. Here we'll be able to explore the ruins of the old paper mills where they use to produce the famous “Carta d’Amalfi” (paper made using a medieval system).
Before descending to the center of Amalfi, enjoy a two courses menu in a historic and recently refurbished farmhouse. It includes: traditional dishes prepared with local ingredients gathered from the farmhouse garden, fresh lemonade made with the famous Amalfi lemons grown in the farm, water from the local Grevone spring (wine and other beverages are not included and are available at at a surcharge).
The excursion ends here. On your own, walk down to Amalfi center.
